Our Small Animal Services

Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best.

Wellness

Examinations

At Cobb Veterinary Clinic, we understand the importance of routine wellness examinations for the health and happiness of your pet. These visits allow us to establish a baseline for your pet’s health and potentially catch any serious health changes early. This is also the time for us to visit about any potential concerns you may have as your pet ages. We also offer in-home exams for pets that would benefit from staying in their home environment or if you are unable to bring your pet to our clinic.

Vaccinations

Vaccinations are administered on an individual basis depending upon your pet’s potential exposure to certain illnesses. We offer a range of vaccinations, but not every pet needs every vaccination. Our veterinarians will discuss your pet’s lifestyle with you to tailor our vaccination protocol in a way that best fits the needs of your pet.

Pharmacy

We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, prescription diets, flea and tick control products, and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. Our online pharmacy has been a valuable benefit to clients needing special medications or for the convenience of shipping to your home.

Diagnostics

Radiology Services

An x-ray (radiograph) is a noninvasive diagnostic test that aids in diagnosing and treating medical conditions. Imaging with x-rays involves exposing a part of the body to a small dose of ionizing radiation to produce pictures of the inside of the body. Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high-quality digital radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders. Our machine delivers images in seconds and offers lower radiation exposure. Our veterinarians can then review these pictures and electronically sent to board-certified radiologists for consultation and review.

Laboratory
Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis, and parasite testing. We are able to receive results within minutes, which means we can start treating your pet quickly. These tests also allow us to screen your pet for potential illnesses such as electrolyte imbalance, decreased organ function, or diabetes. When your pet needs advanced diagnostic testing, we utilize a commercial veterinary reference laboratory. These results are usually returned to us within 24-48 hours.
Ultrasound

Pet ultrasound, a non-invasive imaging technique, uses sound waves to visualize internal organs and detect abnormalities like tumors and pregnancy. It’s commonly used for confirming pregnancy, monitoring fetal health, detecting pathology in geriatric patients, guiding sample collection, and identifying heart murmurs. Generally painless and without anesthesia, the procedure involves a handheld transducer moved over the pet’s skin. While considered safe and reliable, other imaging methods like X-rays or MRI may be more suitable in certain cases, determined by a veterinarian.

Surgery

Surgical Services
Our team is highly skilled and experienced in performing a wide variety of pet surgeries using cutting-edge techniques, modern equipment and always adhering to the strictest standards of safety and care. We provide surgical options in a clean and safe environment. Surgical monitors are used throughout the anesthetic process to aid our veterinary team in monitoring your pet’s anesthesia. Your pet is in safe hands at Cobb Veterinary Clinic!

Counseling

Dietary Counseling
Feeding a healthy diet and maintaining a healthy weight can increase life expectancy, quality of life, decrease the risk of many diseases (such as arthritis, diabetes, heart disease), and help manage chronic medical conditions. We include a nutritional assessment and a weight evaluation in every health evaluation for every pet. We will also evaluate trends in your pet’s weight, as weight gain or weight loss can be signs of underlying disease or may indicate a need to change your feeding regimen. At Cobb Veterinary Clinic, we will provide guidance regarding your pet’s nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance, and performance.
Behavioral Counseling

It’s important to be aware of your pet’s behavior. Not only does it reveal their character, but it can also affect their health and quality of life. A well-adjusted pet can enjoy their home and handle stress much better than those who have received little training or attention. Each animal is an individual with a unique personality and background. We will work with you to find the best solution for your individual pet’s needs. We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling, and aggression.

Dentistry

Dental Cleanings
At CVC, we offer excellent dental care for your pet. X-rays are taken of each tooth to evaluate the entire tooth and bone structure around the tooth. An exam of each tooth as an individual is performed with advanced surgical extractions when necessary. Our veterinarians and veterinary technicians have received advanced training from a board-certified veterinary dental team. Each pet goes home with a record of their procedure with a discussion regarding the exam and any surgical procedures performed.

Additional Services

Emergency Care

We offer care for pets in case of sickness, lameness, injury, metabolic problems, or chronic illness. We are equipped to provide intravenous fluids, and most laboratory results are obtained within 24 hours.

In-Home Euthanasia

Knowing when it is time to say goodbye to our beloved pets is often a difficult and highly emotional time. Humane euthanasia is a caring and gentle option and is often the kindest, most loving choice we can make to help our pets go with peace and dignity.

Being at home with your pet during this time keeps them in familiar and comfortable surroundings and allows you the time, space and privacy to say goodbye in your own way.

We can also arrange for cremation if you wish, and you can choose whether or not you would like to have your pet’s ashes returned to you.

If you are not sure if that time has come, please don’t hesitate to call us; we will always be sensitive and caring with any questions or concerns you may have.
